Nanyuki Furaha foundation is a charitable Non-Governmental Organisation located in Nanyuki Town Founded in 2014 by Cleopas Wachira and Andreina Iorio in collaboration with Italy based La Ricerca Della Felicita Association, Noi Con Voi, Col Cuore Per L'Africa, S.o.Solidarieta.
In Swahili, Furaha translates to joy and happiness. Situated in the Laikipia Region, the growing issue of orphaned and abandoned children within the area has led to the sustained work of Nanyuki Furaha Foundation to provide a supportive, educational and nurturing environment for children of all ages.
The Institution hosts up to 50 children [Residents] between ages of 2 years and 14 years. In addition, the institution supports 14 children after reintegration with their families and community. The problem of children in need of care and protection is acute due to urbanization, commerce and other issues. Due to HIV/AIDS, re-marriage of deserted / widowed / divorced women, absence of love and security in the families, family disputes,children are left without sustained care and support. These children become involved in drug abuse, participating in anti-social behaviour and criminal activities. Nanyuki Furaha Foundation supportively integrates these children, creating a secure and longterm environment, for all children of all backgrounds to thrive and experience an enriching upbringing.

The vision of Nanyuki Furaha foundation is to work for children in need of care and protection, to provide them with a nurturing environment, safety, education and counselling so that they can secure equal opportunities with others their age.
Our operations are dependent on the community, the goodwill from supporting organizations and patrons. We maintain the necessary work at Furaha through the generosity and the care exhibited by individuals, organisations and others. Our future is dependent on our ability to serve children and to raise funds. We measure success by the number of children we serve, the number of children for whom we find educational support, and the number of children who successfully reintegrate into families annd into the community. Nanyuki Furaha Foundation is registered under the NGOs Co-ordination Board and approved by Laikipia East Children’s Office and is part of the Area Advisory Council of Laikipia East to work for the welfare of street children, under privileged children and orphaned children.
